Prototype three:

Saiter

Memory Access

I have been looking at my key influences for my thesis, and what has really struck me in the need for a narrative element to my work that is similar to Buey’s and Fluxus. I’ve decided that each installation will be partnered with an app where I use UI/UX methodologies.

Turning those UI/UX methodologies and the idea of interactive design to investigate what makes us human, and how it is related to ritual. I see it as a process with the apps as narrative and the virtual installations as a reflection of the sublime.

Artist Statement:

HyperRealism - Open World Dreamscape

Prototype three is based on the photography of Gregory Crewdson and on the genre of manga, Isekai. Isekai is a genre that revolves around a person being transported to, reborn or otherwise trapped in a parrellel universe/fantasy world that mirrors their own. They must adapt and/or assimilate into this new world, along with its new rules, and philosophies. This speaks to me because of my ‘lived-in’ dreams and also because of my recent relocation to the Midwest. I’ve found a lot of abandoned buildings and desolate lots, and have decided to make a reconstruction of one such space for my third installation. I want to use multiple manipulations to reconstruct nature and the natural environment. The *player will move through this space collecting unique artifacts constructed of digital assemblage of found online imagery, like hunting butterflies, or trying to reconstruct a fleeting memory. In this space an uneasy tension will grip the area, along with a pervasive feeling of being watched.

*note – I will be using the term player to denote the active participant/user/viewer of the piece.

Modular Asset

This early concept was built from 8k photos I took of the actual scene. Then these were turned into albedo, bump and roughness maps in Photoshop. This is just a rough draft. The final space will be based around the idea of Telluric currents, underground current that run underground or through the sea. In this piece it will be in the puddles and soil.  I use digital collage and generative art, and utilize  Blender, Substance and Unreal. These concepts and early builds are shown below and updated routinely.

Sound Design:

Soundscapes and SFX

With Satier I really want to emphasize ambience with a mix that is dreamlike. I’m currently looking at different vaporware tracks with a richness and an easiness to them that evokes a gentile quality. I’m looking to do some bit crushing for an artificial/digital sound, then adding environmental effects as needed. Below is a sample of work – 猫シ Corp. – EdenTrans.
